First field trip!

It was homeschool day at the Frontier Culture Museum, so we were able to enjoy a fun filled (and HOT) afternoon of learning and exploration. First, we explored the West African village.
Then we made our way to the English farm.  The kids were able to stoke the fire, grate cheese, and stir dough to make fritters, while learning about life on a yeoman's farm. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures.
At the Irish farm, we had a chance to grind oats.
The kids also tried making flax for linen, but it was very crowded at the German farm and we were all hot and tired.  Overall, it was a fun afternoon and I'm sure we will return again soon!

Week 9

In Week 9, we covered the water cycle.  It is raining this week, so we've had lots of opportunities to follow up.  After reading many library books and watching YouTube videos, C illustrated the water cycle.
We then made water cycle bead bracelets for a more in depth look at the phases of the water cycle.
Blue is for rain, green for grass, purple for puddle, orange for sun, and yellow for cloud.  M joined in and this was a great tool for helping the kids remember the order of the cycle.

Week 8

I've taken a break for vacation and am trying to catch back up, so this will be mostly a pic post.  In MFW Week 8, we covered the 4 seasons. One of C's favorite activities was making tree cut outs using an outline of her arm and hand.  She decorated each tree according to a season.
